Don't Just Ride the Wave...
Be the Wave!

[ Why Does Tsunami Exist?]

Because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 4:14-15 NIV

[ TSUNAMI MISSION ]
To empower, nurture and equip individual youth, youth workers and youth ministries to make a long-lasting impact on this world in the name of Jesus Christ, while growing deeper in their faith.
All arrangements are made by speaking with Kim in the Tsunami Ministries Office. The hiring agency will make all airline & lodging arrangements after confirming with the Tsunami Office. If the event is within driving distance travel fee will be $.485 per mile (that is Uncle Sam's number) and the total miles will be measured from the Tsunami Ministries Office to the Venue and back.

[ A Little History...]
Tsunami was founded in 1999 (originally the BIG Youth Events division of Isaac Ministries).  The very 1st Tsunami event took place in December 1999 with 35 youth from 3 churches as Camp Carolwood Retreat Center in Hickory, NC.  Since then Tsunami has grown by leaps and bounds and in the Fall of 2006 Tsunami Fall Experience 2006 had to expand to 2 weekend serving approximately 600 youth from 15 churches from both North & South Carolina.  WOW!  God is Good!

Tsunami’s goal is provide youth ministries with events where they can gather, worship and experience God like never before.  And do so in an environment where they feel welcome and loved.  Tsunami wants to challenge youth, youth ministries and youth workers to not simply “ride” the youth culture of this world, but instead “BE” a Tsunami wave that impacts the world for God.

Tsunami is passionate about helping youth encounter the love of Jesus Christ and enable that experience to move them into a deeper relationship with Christ.  At the same time, Tsunami wants to nurture and affirm youth workers who find themselves in the trenches, daily, reaching youth, loving youth, challenging youth.  You are not alone!

[ Rev. Steve Keaton Director / Speaker ]

Steve Keaton is the founder and executive director of Tsunami Ministries.  He is a 16 year veteran of youth ministry and began his journey into the abyss of youth ministry at University City UMC in Charlotte, NC.  He was basically the guy that busted all the kids for smoking and smooching.

Steve has served at churches in the Charlotte, NC area, Rock Hill (the Thrill), SC, Yadkinville (pronounced: Yaginvil), NC and currently he is the Grand Pu-bah of Student Ministries at Mt. Tabor UMC in Winston-Salem, NC where he is simply known as “The Turtle.”  DON’T ASK!  Basically Steve gets paid to be a kid.  Man, life is good!

Steve loves youth and loves Jesus.  This is very obvious by how easily he can revert back to being a 12 year old boy.

Steve does a bit of speaking around the country at youth events, youth worker training events, seminars, conventions, bingo nights, bake sales, demolition derbies, yard sales and more.

Steve has a God-given gift to reach & communicate with youth in any environment.  He has been a youth speaker at large youth ministry conferences, as well as intimate youth ministry retreats.  Steve's style of speaking and relational ministry ability make him extremely effective in covering a wide range of topics which today's teens are dealing with.

Experience:
Youth Speaker at over 100 retreat settings, leaders training events and seminar.
Minister of Youth to both small & very large youth ministries
      Training Youth Workers
Planning and directing retreats for ministries ranging from 20 - 1,000+ participants
    * 22 mission trips around the US and Internationally
Prior to Full-Time Ministry, Steve was a volunteer youth worker while working as a Charlotte Police Officer in Charlotte, NC.
